Hey all,

Been loitering on the boards for a while now, but never wrote on here. Thought it might be good to integrate now!

At 22 I was diagnosed with PCOS and was told I may never have children because of it.... It is incurable as such, but manageable within reason. PCOS causes weight gain.... but the symptoms of it are also exaggerated by the weight gain itself- therefore you end up in a circle! I ignored it for a few years and buried my head. I was the life and soul of the party, but over the months and years I withdrew, made excuses to stop going out, ended up with bad social anxiety etc,

In the summer of 2014 after a holiday away with my godsons (where I was tired all the time and couldn't do things I wanted to do with them) I decided to make a change.

I came home and bought a bike. I'd go out at quiet times so no one could see me. Later at night or I'd avoid busy places. I started eating better and the weight started slowly coming off.

18 months down the line I now class biking as a real hobby, I bought another road bike I spend time on, I started owning my anxiety and I joined a gym which I attend 6 days a week. I also swim twice a week with friends, which means exercising is still socialising for me. I love being social again, make new friends and am lucky I have some old ones that stuck with me through all of this!

As of today I am 5 stone, 3lbs down on my starting weight an looking to long continue the losses.
I'm 30 in June and off on my first holiday abroad in over 15 years... as I now feel confident enough to holiday with my friends :)

Good look to everyone else either starting out or on the journey! It's worth it!

Cheers for reading,
Mish

Thanks so much. Hitting the gym 6 days a week at the moment and really in the zone. It feels good to have a grasp on my own life for the first time in forever!
