I've only been going to the gym for two weeks and getting a little unmotivated that nothing is showing on my abs or V. I know two weeks is nothing really but it's starting to make me feel a little down with myself especially with how hard I am pushing myself at the gym.

@nck1986 welcome to MFP forums. I have found whatever are our reasons to become more healthly in appearance we must by trial and error learn the macro that works best for us. Some of the bodybuilding mags have good info.

Give yourself 365 days to learn the right way of eating and moving to reach your objectives. Getting a macro that cut out all of my cravings did not come to me overnight. The nice thing when you get the macro that works for you then you can just tweak it as you age.

    Best of success.

Expecting to see results in two weeks is pretty unrealistic. It takes some people years to lose the weight they want lost, or build the muscle they want built, so why are you expecting it to happen instantaneously? If you actually want that body, then you will stick with it in the long term.... if you took it up on a whim, and are ready to quit because 14 days of lifting weights didn't turn you into Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, then no amount of encouraging words are going to help you.

Think of each gym trip as laying down good habits to last a lifetime. It takes 6weeks to establish a habit so keep a diary and you will be more motivated to keep going. I have diaries going back over 10 years and they help to convince me that I really am meant to be a healthy person.

Pick a few performance goals to work toward. Examples: increase weight on XYZ lifts every workout or week, jump rope for X minutes straight, do X number of push-ups, run X distance, run X distance without any walking, etc.

I have no idea of your starting point but abs and a V could be a long way off. Interim goals will be key to keep you on track.

A big factor of abs is your body fat percentage. You can be skinny and have no abs because your body fat percentage is higher and like wise you could be heavy and have abs because your body fat percentage is low.

Body fat percentage takes a long time to lower and you need to eat healthy to do so. But in turn you also are going to need a strong core to have nice abs so you must workout as well.

Its tough but 2 weeks is really only a fraction of time your going to be needing to spend to get the results you want. Just find a routine you can keep doing for a long long long time.

Come back in 3-6 months, when you've put some dedication in, and let us know how it's going ;)

That's to say...two weeks is not a habit, not work, not dedication...yet. Two weeks is just trying something out. It's dipping your toe in.
