Polar Flow Exercises

I have just noticed that after syncing Polar Flow with MFP it puts in supposedly what I have done regarding exercise. This is nothing like what I have done. I cannot walk very well on most occasions because of disability, and I have 2 sessions of walking as running at the equivalent of 9 miles an hour which is laughable. I managed to 'hobble' from the car to a few charity shops, and a cafe. Could the app have based this on the calories burned as I was wearing the heart monitor? I say this as once someone questioned the amount of calories burned that I stated; I have put this down to the fact although I may be doing very little compared to someone else; the effort of doing this is why I am burning it off (shame it isn't coming off my tum quicker!).

If your wearing a heart monitor and your genuinely struggling physically, then it's likely that physical exertion will elevate your heart rate, giving a higher calorie burn report...at least that's my guess.0

That is just the code the polar sync using to input you activity. Weather you do yoga, cycle walk or run, your activity calorie will go into mfp as running 9 mph0

What type of Polar product do you have? My M400 allows me to set up sports profiles on my watch. Then, when I set up a certain profile to track my workout, it syncs with MFP accordingly, showing the correct workout.0

Thank you Greg: I've learned something today. :-). Cronus70: one of the reasons I have been trying to do more exercise is because my heart rate is at the higher rate of normal when pottering (80s- late 90s). I know the asthma medication won't help but would have thought my bpm would have come down more by now after 2 months. I read somewhere that it takes around 6 weeks to see an improvement, less if not very fit. So disappointed there has only been around a 5 bpm difference. Sitting down computing for example is 78-88bpm (ambient). First thing in the morning normally around 72-78 bpm (resting), although it has recently been in the late 60s which is good. I also do Qiqong. I just wish I could bring it down further.0

Dragon_girl: I have the A300 which does the same. I must admit today I had mine set at walking, other outdoors and indoors. I shall check now after updating to see if my Zumba profile shows.0

Okay. The Zumba comes under fitness dancing. I've just synced again and it shows as 'dancing, aerobic, ballet, modern twist. The section when I was sleeping I had set for static. That shows as running. It is weird as when I was out earlier 3 show as running and 1 as walking. What I actually did was 3 walking and 1 static. Depending on how I am over the next couple of days, I will pick totally different profiles to do and see what happens.0

Well I hope your health continues to improve.
Although I don't think what workout you have it set to makes much difference on the actual calories burned, it certainly looks more accurate (and appeases my ocd) to have it set to the right type of workout. I mostly workout at home so I open up Polar Beat on my iPad and set it to the workout I'm going to do, put my Polar HRM on and then when it's all done I open up Polar Flow which syncs everything to MFP.0 -
That's similar to me Cronus. I was that pleased with the H7 though I bought the A300. The polar beat app won't go to waste though I hope. I bought one of those arm bands for my iPhone with the intentions of using the gps function if I can ever move enough to get it to register ha ha. It was a hard decision on whether to go for the M400 that has gps built in but is not waterproof; or the A300 that doesn't have gps but is waterproof. My intention if possible at some point is to go swimming again. The only thing stopping me is the memories of being so hungry afterwards and the total exhaustion that made me feel it defeated the purpose. Going home and sleeping it off was not the intention: feeling vitalised was0

I think if I ever get to the point where I have to face reality outside for exercise then Polar do a small gps tracker that you can attach to your shoe laces, and it will sync with all the other Polar stuff0
