Broken scale?

My scale isn't digital, it's the kind with the little marker that moves to the number to show your weight. I placed it on a flat, hard surface but it wouldn't stay on the 0, it was up around 4. I then put a 10lb weight on it and it was saying 9-12ish. I decided to manually move the little marker back to the 0 with my hand. Now when I'm getting on the scale it's saying I've gained 16lbs in the past month. Do you think that could be inaccurate since I messed with the scale? I don't know why I would've gained weight, as I look much skinnier.

After adjusting it did you try the 10lb weight again? If so, it's time for a new scale. Don't be surprised if the new scale shows a different number though. Rarely do two scales weigh the same.

    1. Go to a friends house and use their scale.
    2. Go to store like walmart, and weigh yourself for free with a scale at the store.
    Also, CVS, bbbeyond, target.
    3. Go to a gym, and say you are interested in joining and would like to walk around.
The locker room will have one (do not remove your shoes, they are dirty).
    4. Can you sneak in a college gym? They have scales.

All I can say is that I have went through many scales so it may be your scale. JanetYellen is right. Try a new scale and do a comparison weigh in. Sorry to say you just may have to buy a new scale.
