What is the best exercise to slim down hips and thighs?

I think my legs are too muscular, and I would like to loose fat around my thighs and hips. I know weight loss doesn't mean, loosing weight in one place alone, but are there exercises to do to loose weight on my lower body? Am i bulking up on my lower body from doing too much leg press, and weights for lower body or does that help with slimming down lower body?

You cannot use any exercise to pinpoint "slimming" on any body part. Fat loss from anywhere on the body comes off systematically (evenly) unless you're getting lipo done. If you're retaining fat on your lower body, it's due to genetics and gender.

If you're in a deficit, no you are not bulking up.

More than likely you're losing from fat from other areas of your body at a faster pace giving the illusion your legs are bigger.

This. I lost 40lbs and almost all of my upper body messurements went down but only 1" from hips and 1" from each thigh. Then lost 20lbs more and suddenly lost 5" from hips and another 2" from each thigh. It is genetics and just how your body holds fat.

I'm right there with you! I get very narrow in my rib cages and it slowly works its way down. Then I get a nice muffin top, and finally the legs.

It's annoying, but I don't care what order it leaves in, as long as it leaves :)

Ah ha! Thank you for all of the feed back. I know that we're not going to loose weight in one area. I guess i was asking the question more would be: will doing more squats, lunges and weights bulk my legs and lower body or slim them down. However, i ran into another women at the gym today, she has the same shape as me, and she lost alot of weight doing squats and lunges and lower body weights. So I just kept with it, and had the best work out today. Lot's of squats, and lunges oh boy, i am sore, but a good sore. Plus, I like doing those excesses. I just hope i can see the pay off one day sooner than later. But i won't stop

The answer is still the same though. Exercise DOESN'T work to "slim" down any body part. It's just working the muscle and not affecting the fat that surrounds it.

If you think your legs are too muscular, the only way to lose muscle is to actually stop using them so much. The exercises you list will build more muscle.

You need to decide what your goals are. Lose fat? Lose muscle? get more fit?

My goal is to lose 40lbs by August, or July if that's possible. To lose inches, and lbs. I also want to have muscle, but be lean as well.
