Two weeks ago today, I had my appendix removed. Tonight, I ran 2.85 miles in 32 minutes.

I have no doubt that if my appendix had been removed when I was 40 pounds heavier and completely out of shape, I would have had a much slower and more painful recovery. I feel like my recovery has been really easy and had to call my surgeon after a week to ask, "Can I go to the gym yet?" (The answer was yes, as long as I felt okay, but no heavy lifting.)

I've got momentum going for me and I'm not going to let anything stop me or slow me down.

Interestingly, while I was in the hospital, a nurse asked me if I exercised a lot. She asked because my resting heart rate was so low that every time I fell asleep, it would set off an alarm on my monitor- it would alarm at 50 bpm. She finally had to turn it off so I could get some rest.

Also, when I went to the ER, the nurse who was working with me made a comment about the gown swallowing me whole. I actually laughed through my tears and told him about my weight loss.
