Ello!

I'm just starting out with a beginners dumbbell routine at home. I'm following a guide in "burn the fat, feed the muscle".

One of the moves involves kneeling on a bench and doing a one armed row.

I don't have a bench. I have to do this at home, in my living room or kitchen.

Any alternatives I can do which work the same muscles?

Stand. Rest your hand on anything solid, like a counter or a couch. Or brace your arm against your knee

Argh that's amazing, such a simple swap! The photos are so helpful too, I really needed something like that.

I can do that, thank you very much DavPul.

    enjoy.

Thanks Sonya, I'll keep that one saved down too for when my core can take it and I need a change. My planks currently last about 10 seconds but they're getting longer slowly.

oooooo, that's downright cruel showing these.
I throw them in every once in a while....and after huffing and puffing myself through the sets.....they get added again months later once I've forgotten how tough they are.

They'd definitely help with my fat loss though - after I fall on my face and smash the odd tooth out trying them haha.

    Maybe one to aspire to.

Kneel on kitchen chiar- face the chair, one hand goes on the back one hand for the weight.

I have one of those folding chairs I use for my workouts. Great for rows and also tricep dips

I've never had a problem. Usually I use it on my yoga mat so it doesn't slide on my floor while I'm doing my dips.

Why kneel in the first place? Is it easier on the back? This is how I do them, and it's a little hard on my lower back:
