I downloaded the myfitness app about a year ago and didn't stick with it. I have never tried the message boards and I am hoping this might keep me motivated! So here it goes....

I have gained a lot of weight over the last 10 years and it has been very hard to make the weight stop. I miss that fit body I had back in high school and college, ah to be 20 again! But times have changed and I have about 130 lbs to lose and need to find a way to do it. It really struck home when I noticed my 9 year old gaining weight. I don't need to be passing unhealthy habits on to her!

July 1st my husband and I decided we are going to work on eating healthier also so fingers crossed we stick to it! I am 6 foot and he is 6'6'' and both overweight so we have a lot of pounds to lose between the two of us. We have cut out sodas and fast food again, we did this for 2 years straight in 2010 & 2011 but gave in to it again this year. (He of course lost weight during that time and I continued to gain weight.) We are also trying to cut down on carbs and sugar, hopefully this will make a dent in the extra pounds.

Hopefully I stick around, if not someone yell at me please! :)

Welcome! I am 28 and have about 50-60lb to lose. I wish we realized how fit and healthy we were in high school and university, I look back at pictures and remember what I felt and it just doesn't match up. I find that the biggest thing is to not eliminate things right away, if at all. Try just adding healthier things into your diet instead of a huge overhaul and you will develop better choices without feeling like you are deprived of something and then eventually binge.

I don't like many vegetables for instance. So instead of just never eating them I am introducing one new one at a time and getting used to eating it, then another, then another. I find this method works for cutting things out too, pick one thing you need to change, substitute it for something else slightly more healthy, then again with something else.

This is a journey, not a sprint.

If you would like to add me as a friend, feel free. We all stumble, but it is nice to have people there to help us pick ourselves up again :)

Welcome back! I am 30 and have the goal to lose 150 lbs. I just started this new journey of mine 2.5 weeks ago and I have already lost 18 lbs. That is very exciting for me but it is so much more than the numbers. I am in general very hard on myself but as a part of my journey I am try to give myself "pats on the back" for putting in the effort and forgiving myself when I mess up. For me I am working on integrating change 1 week at a time though I am tempted to do more sometimes to just get this weight off. I keep telling myself I did not pull this weight on in 1 week,, or 1 month, or even 1 year so it will take time to take it off and that is OK. Instead of going 0 to 60 I am doing small increases like this week brought drinking 2 additional cups of water, 50 less calories, and 1 extra workout.

I agree with Merbear1985's quote "This is a journey, not a sprint."

I sent you a friend request. So I hope to chat soon!

Wow, just saw this post from when I start this weight loss journey!! I was so sad when I posted this and so tired! It has been one year and 5 months and I have lost 78 pounds!! I feel great and can still see the progress even though it as slowed down considerably. Always good to be able to look back and see the changes though.
