goal weigh and reality... thought I wanted it...

Here's where I started...

203lbs about a 2 years ago... Currently 174... I set a goal weight in mfp of 165, thinking I could get that and look the way I wanted... I am now realizing weight is just a number, I have lost inches ( I am going since I began mfp not the previous weight loss) moved in a belt hole, getting more vascular, weight is increasing while keeping up reps while lifting. I have increased my number of days lifting, and have since added a lot more cardio... If you look at my diary... Forget the past few Easter days, I didn't log all the candy I ate...lol
I guess my question / comment is ... I am eating better, lifting and cardio more, my weight has not decreased a ton but is steadily dropping weekly, just not daily... Is my 165 goal correct?.. Or should I be focusing on my body changes, my gains in lifting, my cardio and the overall look, rather than a number... Sorry to rant... Just been thinking this morning...

Feel free to add me as a friend. I could use motivation...

Are you male or female? How tall are you? How do you feel overall at your current weight?

If you are happy with your body now, then stop... If you are not, then keep going. If you are interested in building muscle instead of losing weight, then expecting to see the scale go down is unrealistic.

I set my goal at 140, but I may stop before that... I have never been below 165, so i have no idea how i will look beyond that point.

I don't know what is right for you, but I can share what I'm thinking. I'm not looking for a specific number on the scale. I just know that I'm too fat right now (200 pounds this past Friday). I want to arrive at eating and exercise habits that I can live with for the rest of my life. I used to think 128 (at 5' 6.5") was my magic number, but once I dieted down to that number, I'd stop dieting and slowly gain all the weight back, plus more. I need to find a weight that I can maintain on the number of calories that I feel satisfied with. I don't know what that will be.

Do what feels right. If you're happy with the way you look, I don't think it's necessary to keep going just to see a number of the scale.
