Batman v. Superman spoiler discussion...

Thoughts, impression, reviews?

I did not like this as well as marvel movies, but I really liked Affleck/Irons in this one. I wish they'd get Luthor's character more consistent between his "versions". I was ok with Eisenberg in this one, but I was hoping for a more business oriented/political mastermind Luthor, and not the BSC version.

I could have done without so many "dream" sequences. What's with the foreshadowing of Injustice: God's Among Us? Felt out of place in this one...

I thought it was was was way better than it getting credit for. It was just far too intellectual for many who were expecting it to be more marvel and family friendly

It was terrible, no one can argue that, maybe some people didn't hate it as much as others but if anyone says it's a good movie, they are wrong
    wrongness-1_zps0a0b190e.gif

They really butchered the characters with terrible writing, editing and direction.

I mean literally half the movie was wasted time, Batman hates superman for metropolis and the Wayne building, we didn't need Luthor framing Superman for the SHOOTING deaths of a bunch of African warlords or the destruction of the congress building. Superman didn't like Batman branding dudes because it was a "death sentance" in prison but didn't care at all about the fact Batman just killed a bunch of dudes with his Batmobile!? Also if you are going to frame Superman, why use a team with special bullets that can be traced back to you by some reporter!?

I will give you that Luthor taking Superman's mom was smart and literally made him kneel to him...

    GOD THAT MOVIE WAS TERRIBLE!

The dream was foreshadowing Darkseid and his evil minions coming, which is what made Batfleck start to assemble the justice league. We have had so many Marvel movies lately which weave humor into them, and I think we are spoiled by it. BvS orphan fight was much darker and more gritty than most Marvel movies. But overall I thought it was a good movie, they tried very hard to set up the Justice League, they could have cut out about 20 minutes of the movie and made some of the scenes where Wonder Woman watches the videos of the Flash, and Cyborg into a mid or post credit scene, but I doubt they want to copy off of Marvel so they packed it all in.

My take as I was talking about the movie to a friend.

Sooo. The movie. It was bad. But I can see how if you put years of reading comics and taking it at face value some would see it as entertaining. It had it's moments.

It seems like DC tried to pack as much as they could into this one movie. You have Superman's sequel, Justice League's prequel, introduction of a new batman with his history and then the Superman v. Batman plot. It seemed so choppy. And with all that going on it leads little time for character development. I mean, the only time we get to know why Lex is now evil was because he said his father hit him as a kid.

Most movies have at least a little humor or witty banter. I suppose they were trying to use Perry White as this? Kinda like J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-man but it failed miserably. His lines felt awkward.

They back and forth between Supes and Batman did not seem emotional. I enjoyed Daredevil and Punisher dialogue better. Gah. The writing was terrible. "Is she with you?" "I thought she was with you?" Yeah. No.

The editing was terrible. Too much time was spent on things that mean nothing and less time on things valuable to the plot! Like the whole Perry wanting Clark to cover the football story. I assume that was relevant to Cyborg but it never said. But then after seeing the screen shots between you and Brett I had to look for the deleted scene as Lex was being arrested. I didn't know it was Stephenwolf. But most comic viewers knew it was Darkseid that Lex was talking about "Him" at the end.

God. I hated Lex so hard. Seriously. He seemed mentally retarded. Like sticking the Jolly Rancher in the guy's mouth?! and just the nonsense that had nothing to do with anything he was spouting?! Mother *kitten*.

Granted, I never realized both Supes and Bat's mother's name was Martha. But why did Superman keep saying "martha" instead of "my mom"? It would have given Bat the same flash backs as "Martha" would have? And the guy holding Martha hostage. He heard gunshots and such. He killed so many people. Why did he wait til Batman was in the room and the timer go off before he shot her? He'd killed many but he waited?

And my god. All the flashbacks, flash forwards, and dreams were annoying as hell. The dream sequence? I know that would've been Flash. But the flash forward where there were superman soldiers. That was dumb. we got the idea already that Batman didn't like superman, but that was unnecessary in my opinion.

I think one of the only parts I really liked was the fight sequence where all 3 took on Doomsday. I've always loved comics when it has the 3 of them, like Trinity.

Ugh. Good thing I only paid 5 bucks for the tickets.

I get it, they want to play catch up to Marvel but they could have actually tried to make a decent movie, it's like they knew the movie was bad so they just rolled with it....Batman, the greatest detective in the world doesn't realize Clark Kent is standing in front of him wearing a cape but Lex figures out who his mother is to kidnap her!?

The only people who can call this movie "good" are fanboys who can't admit it to themselves, they are in shock...

Seeing the flash forward to an almost "Injustice" world was weird, I'm sure, to non comic fans.

Hell, I wish a studio had the balls to do an Injustice movie...heck, the story mode from the game on youtube is worth a look to fans who haven't played the game.

Im a comic fan and even I thought the dream was weird lol! There were so many good ideas for this movie but not great execution. You fall asleep for the first hour and then you can't blink cause you're scared you're going to miss some obscure Easter egg they're trying to shove in your face.

Lois is useless! I'm sorry but it's true! And for so much hatred batman seemed to have towards superman I found it almost comical that their mothers names is what resolved the conflict.

Unlike most people I loved Jesse and his version of lex jr!! Not the regular lex we're used to seeing but his son. The perfect ratio of crazy and clever! I think he gave the movie life when all the other characters fell flat for the first hour!

In all not bad but not great! I'm hoping the next movies are better throughout out and not as rushed.

The writers tried too hard to insert so much of DC Universe into it and editing did them no favors. Red Son Batman, Knightmare Batman, The Dark Knight, along with the Death of Superman all mini stories that didn't tie in well together.
IMO, with the exception of the fight scenes (which was basically all the trailers leading up to the movie), I personally thought it was 7 out 10 at most.

It wasn't a dream sequence zack said...it was actually the future and that's why flash makes a stop and tells Batman 'you were right about him...and Louis is the key' .. I think the people of earth (lex) kills Louis and Louis is supermans 'world' and his world dies and he takes side with darkseid...I think this movie was well done and I think you have to go into this movie watching frank Miller's version and also justice league war and flashpoint paradox etc cause ideas are all in those animated movies.. Just my take on it to put together the pieces.. Just gives me chills the comic book hero's come to life!
