What should my sodium intake be at to avoid retaining water? I drink averagely 7-8 cups of water a day, weigh 165, am 5'8'' and 20 years old.

Thanks if you can help!

Just drink enough so that you can read a "pretend newspaper" at the bottom of your toilet.
Should not be cloudy, brownish, or too dark yellow.
As long as it's pale yellow in color -- you are ok.

    I peeked at your diary.
Did you know that rinsing canned beans can cut up to 40% of the sodium?
Same with other items like canned veggies and canned meats.
Bananas, regular milk, and avocados have a lot of potassium which can offset high salt.
    * Sodium is not dangerous unless you have a medical condition

@JanetYellen I actually use the rinsing trick to help reduce sodium! I don't log it that way though.

I'm fine as far as my color goes, but I know there is a science behind the amount of water vs sodium intake a person should use. If one is off, then it can cause you to retain water I believe. I was just wondering if anyone had some of the facts behind that.
