Do you hate them?! Do you love them?! Do you fancy their bikes? Do you think their bikes are gross? Tell me what you *truly* think when you see a fixie rider! What makes a good fixed gear cyclist vs a "fixie" culture cyclist. Are you one?

BTW for those who don't know:

FWIW, I ride one around the neighborhood when I want to get a quick ride in. Otherwise I much prefer my mountain bike.

What kind of fixed do you have?

One expensive MTB that's for sure. Do you ride in trails and courses or somethin? Looks fun

Flat bar road bike here. Fixies are for kids who can't drive a standard. ;)

Wwwwwhat? So you're saying fixed gear is less skill intensive somehow? lol

No trials or courses. Just some trails here in the state let you throw it off the ground a bit. There's a new park but I haven't tried it yet.

Neat! I want to try a proper MTB one day.

I took my fixed on a gravel trail. It's a vintage Peugeot conversion with drops. That was a really really bad idea but it was also really fun

If I lived somewhere flatter I would have had one a long time ago. Too many hills here though for anything more than riding around with my kids. One of my mtb is a SS... not quite the same, obviously, but it's pretty awesome. Just can't justify the cost for a SS/fixie road bike right now.

    Fixed gear bikes are over!!!

OK, I ride a yeti in the mountains, thought about converting my old 26 to a single speed, but that's my limit

what is the point of a fixie?

less moving parts so less chance of breaking down?

I loled. That was hilarious XD. I convinced everyone I know to ride SS for some reason or another.

Yup that's one point. A point for me is just variety is the spice of life. I like being able to control my speed with my legs and make small speed adjustments at every moment with my legs. I also like the feeling of the ride, and it's just more fun to me and more challenging. :) I use front and back brakes too tho I'm not a dumbie who rides brakeless in the city

[raises hand] I don't have brakes on mine. I ain't skeered.

Well I ain't as skilled as you I can't skid! My wimpy jelly legs aren't stronk enough. So do you ride in the drops in traffic? :p

I think: Hipsters confined to flat lands. I prefer my gravel bike and my fat bike. Both have gears and BRAKES.

I have a SS but it's quite worthless here in CO.

I have around 5000 miles on my fixed gear bike.

Bought this as a trainer and never turned back. I am building a cyclocross/touring bike but I'm never giving up the fixed gear.

If you want to get strong as F*** on a bike pick up a fixie. If you want to lose weight faster pick up a fixie

Agreed!! Good cadence training on the flat- fly down hills and works you like a 8a5tard when climbing hills! I know guys that used them to train when going to watch and do the Paris - Roubaix route and they swore by that prep!

One of my 6 bikes is a fixie and/or single speed. Most of the time I keep it a single speed but flip the hub every once in a while. My city isn't really conducive to riding a fixie.

Nothing wrong with those bikes at all as long as you're having fun.
