do you think it is bad if I do not log tomorrow?

I am having a party at my house and I have a lot of friends bringing food and drink. Some of my friends eat pretty healthy while others do not. I would feel weird asking for each recipe to try and figure out calories. I am going to try and keep it pretty healthy, I wont be eating any meat and I know what I prepared is healthy but I will dipping in to what my friends bring as well so I am almost wondering if I should just not log tomorrow. How do you all handle these type of situations?

Skipping one day of logging wont kill you. I'm not logging tomorrow because it would be too embarrassing :) just enjoy the day and pick back up Friday

I do my best. you're logging because:

    1. It gives you accountability to yourself and others
    2. it gives you data, so that if something starts happening with your weight loss/gain, you can go back and figure out what's going on.
    3. So you can know and remember what foods you can eat without sabotaging your own goals.

I think it's fine..it's hard to count calories on holidays and birthdays especially your birthday..lol and you will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out how many calories are in everything! Just try to get some exercise in and enjoy the day!

I am not logging tomorrow and I don't care. I maintain a calorie deficit 99% of the whole year. A couple of holidays including July 4th won't derail my entire year's progress.

As long as you are not prone to backsliding, side stepping, cheating, etc. don't worry about one day. Enjoy yourself.

Yeah, I usually don't log potluck buffets. I do try and be mindful of what I'm eating.

Who are you logging for? I log for me, I'm the only one who sees it, and I am always honest about it because the only person I would be cheating is me. You do what you think is best for you. I don't even understand why you are asking the general public this question.
  • I always log. It may not be accurate, but it gives me an idea of what went into my mouth and is all part of the healthy/sustainable eating for life model that I am trying to adopt. Gives me an idea of what's a good food choice for the future and what isn't etc. Even on holiday I try to write down everything I ate and find calorie equivalents on MFP.
Having said that (I am about to utter a sacrilege here) I am not neurotic about it. I don't own a food scale and I don't count everything to the last gram. I eyeball and guesstimate a lot. If I was weighing and measuring and concerned that I couldn't accurately log things I'd have packed this in months ago. Mind you I'm the sort of woman who bakes without a scale and cooks without measuring anything (my friends think it's magic )

I might log tomorrow but then Friday - Sunday I'll be on vacation where I don't log. It's just one day and you'd be wildly guessing anyway (which is why I don't log on vacation) - if it was me I probably wouldn't.
