I just joined mfp yesterday. I had an account but restarted. I'm on day 2 of calorie counting but would like to start running once I'm better. I'd like to lose 18-28 lbs, preferably 28. I could also use some motivational friends on here. I want to stay motivated by being realistic about timing for once. I always lose motovation because i rush results.

Welcome back. Sometimes a restart is just want the doctor orders. Let me start off by saying you can't out run a bad diet. You lose weight in the kitchen and build muscle in the gym. While getting back into running is great, don't think running alone is going to get you to your weight loss goals.

If you are looking for a friend, feel free to add me. Good luck!

Exercise is great, but do it for your health and general fitness. Weight loss happens entirely in the kitchen.

I just ran 5km at a good clip. I burned 330ish calories. I could basically kill all of that with a single, regular McDonald's cheeseburger. Don't need fries, just the burger alone would do it.

Good luck and don't give up. Just remember, the time is going to pass whether you do something or not. I'm glad today that I stuck with it the past few years. :)

Thanks you two. I'm pretty good about eating. My only downfall is when I eat out on the go. I'm trying to work on not eating out at all. The weight I want to be is from when i would workout an hour everday. I'd like to be that person again. I also never ate out or ate when I was bored.

Whenever you are tempted to go out to eat simply prelog your food. Then stick to your guns when you go eat. You can make better decisions beforehand than being down in the dumps for going over after. Nothing wrong with eating out and it is a great treat. That said, I would try to stay away from place that offer a lot of free calories while waiting for your food, like peanuts at steak houses or tortilla chips at mexican. If you do go, ask them NOT to bring those tasty temptations to your table.
