I don't and haven't had cheat days, I have had the occasional regression here and there, but a cookie or a slice of pizza (three slices since Sept 2014) not sure if that is a cheat day. But, account for it and log it and move on to the next day. We have a saying at work "No one died", in the general scheme of things, not a big deal.

    Best Regards,

I hate the term cheat day. If you bite it, write it is my motto. Also: only eat right and exercise on the days you want to lose or maintain your weight. To each their own on cheat days but losing one pound means you have to reduce your weekly calorie intake by 3500 calories. You can go up and down in your daily's as long as you still hit your target of the 3500 deficit in a week but I dont recomend it at all. It never worked for me because its too easy to be bad and if I get off the wagon once I know myself too much that I might not get back on.

Another day, another cheat day thread.

Who came up with this idea?

Don't cheat on your lifestyle. Build a lifestyle you can live with, happily, and that allows for treats and indulgences.

Life happens. Indulgences happen. Cheat days don't just happen. To me they seem like an excuse to binge or otherwise be self destructive.

I used to let myself have a cheat day once every week , it can help you get through the week if you've been struggling, and it is not always good for weight loss to eat low calorie since your metabolism will eventually get used to this and the weight will start to come off less easily. A cheat day does boost your body's production of weight loss hormones so once you go back to your healthy diet the next day your body is still blasting away those calories but you'll have eaten significantly less, but I would suggest maybe just making it a cheat meal because if you allow yourself to have a cheat day you can sometimes lose control and then a cheat day because a cheat week (from experience). If you think you have the self control to have a cheat day and keep going I think it is not a bad idea  ! Best of luck with your goals!

Uh, no. None of this is true. And what are "weight loss hormones"?

There must be THOUSANDS of threads asking this exact same question on the boards.

People must be needlessly suffering and restricting for this to be such a massive issue...

LOL at the people who show up to express their butthurt over the term "cheat days." Just ignore the thread if it bothers you so much.

I usually plan what could be considered "cheat" days around major holidays/events - Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Super Bowl, Easter, etc. I eat whatever I want, log it and move on. Totally takes the stress out of the day and is something I look forward to.

This on every repetitive thread. Just don't open it. Simple.

    BWAHAHAHAAHA Butthurt? We're not 9.
Who's butthurt? Me for saying "another day another cheat day thread?" If so, me thinks you don't know what butthurt means. :)

I'm going to guess you've recently been told about cheat days being great for weight loss by a friend or someone at the gym, got excited about the idea and really want some people to tell you to go for it. But nobody needs a cheat day, it doesn't provide anything you need to boost weight loss that you can't get from a well timed cheat meal or even just eating at maintenance for a while. If you want a cheat day, that's your call, but if you your cheat day is too big and too frequent, you will gain weight. By the way, the whole point of a cheat day is that you don't count calories. Personally I'd recommend just fitting what you want into your calorie goals, it's quite easy to fit in a takeaway meal for example if you keep your portion size in moderation.

    Same.

I just fit whatever food I want into my daily calories, I don't have cheat days. Maybe I'll overeat a little here or there during holidays or special occasions but that's it.
