Spinning

I've been getting really into spinning classes. I'm trying to up my cardio. However I only burn a few hundred calories when I do cardio. I've heard this is enough to reset hormones and metabolism. Does anyone else spin? If so what r ur feelings about it for a cardio option?

Your metabolism can't be reset. It doesn't ever stop working. To lose weight you need a calorie deficit which spinning can help create

Like all exercise it depends how hard you work at it. I love spinning, and take a couple of classes a week. Ive found it good for increasing my overall fitness as long as I continue to push myself at it by increasing resistance when doing hill climbs or aiming for a higher rpm on sprints. If I don't do these things then the workout gets easier (though not boring as my instructor always plays good music!)

Resetting hormones etc is all woo talk.

Spin in a great option for improving cardiovascular fitness and besides running probably one of the highest burns you can get, but you can never out-train overeating. So limit calories for weight loss and exercise for fitness.

99% of what you hear about metabolism is twaddle.
(Also 99% of statistics are also made up on the spot!)

I don't do classes but use a Spinning bike for training - a very good bike with decent adjustability to get good fit on the bike and lots of stability. Excellent for intervals, hill simulations and standing cycling.
You control the resistance so it's as hard a workout as you want it to be.

think spinning is a great cardio option, esp if you have a good instructor. you can work all parts of the body not just legs.
