Mfp ppl... How strict r u with weighing food?? Last time I did this ... I would just type in the name of the dish I ate (and logged a random one from the list) Now I've been logging in ingredients and exact portion sizes and it's so tedious but more accurate.

U?

Depends on if you like accuracy or not. Or if you're losing weight or not. If you're losing weight by just choosing random things and it doesn't bother you that your diary isn't accurate then don't use a scale. If you're not losing however you might want to consider the use of a scale. I use a scale whenever I can because with an inaccurate diary I eat way more than I should.

Since I already owned a kitchen scale for baking, I've been using it if I eat something that might have considerable carb impact. I was recently diagnosed with T2, so it matters.

    Religiously.

But I'm obese and have a history of overeating.

I weigh food occasionally. Last time I did it was on Sunday when I needed 112g of goat cheese for my frittata. There really wasn't any better way of trying to figure that out. I actually surprised myself by what 112g of goat cheese looks like. It was more than I thought.

I don't really waste time weighing things that aren't calorie dense. But those things that are, I tend to break out the scale just to verify.

I weigh about 90% of what I eat. When I start slipping up and skipping the scale too much I stop losing and when I got really lax about it over the holidays, I gained 10 pounds back.

The food scale is your best ally in this. It isn't as bad as you currently think once you get used to it and learn some of the tricks.

I used to use it for everything, now that I have a better idea of portion sizes I usually just weigh calorie dense foods. I do always measure my liquids as I am not good at eyeballing them.

I will weigh foods such as canned goods by the gram weight for the first time or 2. Once I learn about how many tablespoons make a serving size then I don't weigh it again. For meat I will weigh it every time.

I weigh everything. If I were good with portion size I wouldn't be overweight.

I weigh when I can. I'm especially bad with guesstimating cereal - what I think looks like 40g is always more like 60-65g. Can't believe after all this time I still get it so wrong and it's so disappointing how small a portion of cereal should actually be.

I think not using a scale and eyeballing portions for many people is the reason why they don't lose or lose slower than they like.
