Just a place to gather good memories. :)

I don't have any particular memory, but just thinking back to the many BBQs, the fun outside running around as a kid, the parade in the early morning and catching candy, the fireworks...my childhood is full of top notch Independence Day fun.

Anyone have any good stories?

i grew up in Maryland just outside DC so my friends and i would go downtown for the 4th. we'd bring coolers full of beer, sit on the Mall between the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. always lots of fun.

best moment: my friend had bought some fireworks in South Carolina the previous winter. he saved the largest one, a long tube on a stand, to bring to DC for the 4th. as dusk began to set we decided to set it off. it was a dud. just a puff of smoke. about 2 seconds later the sky lights up with a giant red explosion...we thought the fireworks show was starting..however it was OUR firework...everyone on the Mall(easily a hundred thousand people) started cheering...people came over asking what it was...and they showered us with free beer and shots.

    I was a King that day. :)
