AAAAAAAARGH!!! The former copy editor in me can't take it any more!

Please note that "LOSE" or "LOSING" is what one does to weigh less.

"LOOSE" is what your clothes are after you LOSE; and "LOOSING" is what one does with gorgons and hounds.

If your clothes get too loose, you'll lose those too.

Thank you! This grammar mistake drives me nuts.

Sine I have the grammar mic for the moment, using an apostrophe with a plural is incorrect. It's not "apple's". It's "apples".

    Thank you.
People can make fun all they want, but one looks ridiculous when he or she types "I really need to loose some more weight."

    I understand your pain.
People will still type loose instead of lose. Sometimes they will mispell the same word two different ways in the same post.

I have come to the disturbing conclusion that in my lifetime the apostrophe has become the first entirely aesthetic punctuation mark. I honestly believe that people stick them in where they think the look pretty.

Lots of are people here from various cultures and countries, many of whom are communicating in their second language.

    I LOVE YOU.

And yes, I was yelling to my computer.

I totally get the occasional typo, but seriously, on a weight loss site not to know how to spell lose????? I don't even open those threads anymore.

Gee, this subject has never come up before.

There are people here communicating in their third or fourth language. There are people here with learning or visual disabilities. There are people here communicating from mobile devices or using talk to text technology. And there are people here who just don't care when communicating in an informal setting like an online forum. It's really not a big deal.

The English language is full of bizarre and paradoxical pronunciations. This is a weight loss, fitness, and health platform where the word "lose" shows up often.

lose > rhymes with > booze, snooze, cruise
loose > rhymes with > moose, goose

"Lose" is a terrible word! The pronunciation isn't intuitive. Contrast "lose vs. loose" with "choose vs. chose."

choose > rhymes with > booze, snooze, cruise
chose > rhymes with > rose, nose, hose

When I chose to lose weight, it was suggested I choose salad over fries, which eventually led to loose pants.

Read that 10 times fast! :D
