Hi. I have arthritis in my ankle. I would like to start running again and started the C25k a few months ago but after one session my ankle started hurting so I stopped. I really would like to start again and have been reading that running won't make it worse. I think I could possibly manage the pain of o know I'm not damaging my ankle further.

Does anyone have any guidance/advice?

Play it by ear. This is how to manage a fair amount running injuries after time out. I dont think that starting another C25K can really give any real damage....

I had to stop running after many years, because of the same problem. The dr and physical therapist were both very clear: if it hurts, do not do it, because it is damaging the ankle. I am now trying to start again, after more than a year's break, slowly, after treatments with injections and so far so good. Injections for lubrication, not pain relief.

See an orthopedist - Arthritis can be controlled with physical therapy.

Strength training is beneficial for those suffering with arthritis. Strengthening the muscles that support your joints takes some of the stress off the joint.

I tried C25K a couple years ago and couldn't continue due to knee pain. Running can be tough of the joints. Resistance training is a better option. At least that's what.my rheumatologist says.
