Hi am 28 year old , male . I have always been active but 5 years ago I took seriously not well and when I got better I got a new job as a support worker so was always to tired to even think about healthy eating .

I love playing football and haven't played in nearly 5 years . My goal is to get my weight down properly and get back into playing some sort of sport before July. This might sound like a easy challenge but I suffer from ibs and have a weakness in my left arm and very bad lower back pain which I hope regular exercise and eating better will help this.

My diet before this was eat anything I see and worry about it later . I don't drink or smoke but I do consume around 2 litres of Pepsi max or coca cola every day.

I'm 5 foot 9 and weigh 15 stone 2.

Starting from today I'm aiming to eat 1500 calories a day on a low carb . High protein diet. I will be going to the gym to do some cardio 4 to 5 times a week and will hopefully post updates every week

Good luck to everyone and there goals :-)

    Welcome to MFP!

Just making sure you are aware that you can eat more calories and you don't need any special diet to lose weight. If you want to lose more than a couple of pounds, this is going to take some time, and it's important that you don't burn out (and you will, if you start to feel deprived, even if you feel highly motivated now.) Weight loss is about reducing calories, health and fitness is about reducing calories to an appropriate level and getting in proper nutrition. Cutting out daily pop/soda, and not smoking, and exercising, and paying some attention to what you eat, is always a good idea. Eating better will also make you feel less tired.

I usually have a can of pepsi max or diet coke a day and it's totally fine. But I'd definitely say two litres of the stuff probably isn't wise, I'm not one of those people who will try to claim diet soda makes your body crave something sweet and will result in you going on an epic binge to satisfy it. But personally speaking, if I have more than a few cans my stomach hurts. But that's me, if you can handle it and it helps you with diet adherence, great. But if you feel sluggish at all, going to the toilet is a struggle, anything like that, that might be the culprit. As I said, diet soda is great, but so is moderation.
