Help!! Calorie deficits how much protein should I eat

So I have slacked with filling out my diary but I have kept my calorie count to about 1200 a day. I pretty much eat the same things every day... Boring I know. I've started to notice that I may be loosing muscle instead of fat. Which I've been doing some reading and that may be because I'm not eating enough protein. I had knee surgery two months ago so I'm pretty sedentary still only doing physical therapy two times a week. I've noticed I have a lot of muscle weakness and you can see my muscles aren't as defined as they were. What should o do to make sure my body is burning fat and not basically eating muscle???
