I have heard and read that coconut oil is great for losing weight and many many other things. How can something that is 91% saturated fat do anyone any good? Has anyone else heard this and if it's true can you explain it in simple terms.

Do the research and see what makes the most sense to you. There are so many different philosophies regarding what is "healthy". The Sally Fallon/Pierce approach would encourage the coconut oil and she has some sound science to back it up.

I've heard the same from a naturalpath. I haven't tried it yet, I need to research more before adding something like that to my diet.0

My Dr recommended it to help prevent dementia & Alzheimers. He said it has to do with the type of fats in the oil, they are the kind our brain needs to function.0
