Anyone tried the military diet? Just my friend has just finished his first 3 days on it and lost 8 lbs, was wondering if anyone else has/had succeeded on it?

He lost mostly water. Nothing to brag about. Military diet is silly.

Has nothing to do with the military, seems monotonous and unbalanced nutritionally. Why not eat less than you do now, and move more? That works and lets you have some ice cream and beer once in a while.

I'm dubious of anything that says that you'll loose up to 10 lbs in a week. That's either unhealthy, or dangerous. I know while I was in the military, the military diet I knew of was eat as much as you can because it's a guarantee that you'll burn it off plus some every day.

Such an awful program. Absolutely no rhyme or reason to the plan except slash calories.

It is primarily water weight, it will not stay off, and it does nothing to teach a person how to eat an appropriate amount of calories instead promoting a quick fix that doesn't fix anything.

You know what the real military diet is? About 4,000 to 5,000 cal per day when you're going through basic.

The "military diet" to which you allude is an unsustainable crash diet....stick to the basics; eat a well balanced, nutritious diet while maintaining a modest caloric deficit. Slow and steady wins this race......

I did ask him if he did any exercise while on the diet and he said he tried to do a mile run and felt dizzy witch put me off quite a bit, witch is why I thought I'd get some better opinions on it first :)
And so far none are positive haha witch speaks volume about the whole thing :D
    Thank you for replying :)

This is a ridiculous diet. If you want to lose weight just eat at a calorie deficit. No need for fad diets .

PS your friend lost water weight and will gain it back when he returns to his normal eating

Ridiculous nonsense. Hot dogs, saltines and ice cream - it's a joke, nothing anyone should take seriously and actually try.

Yeah, this one is more like the Iron Ration, i.e. that little lunch box you get for when you're deep in enemy territory and can't get supplies in.
    A healthy diet looks different.
