Hi all,
I've had my FitBit since April and am managing to stay motivated with the help of it and MFP. Just one question. FitBit gives me on average 1,000 cals a day for my exercise and MFP gives me 1,200 my TDEE is estimated at 2,135 (using FitnessFrog)
So am I allowed 1200 or 1200 plus exercise cals or 1500 or so to allow a deficit on my TDEE. I've been staying at the 1000 -1100 cals a day and managing around 2lbs a week which is what I want. I joined a gym and do some strength exercises (mainly upper body as I have a lower back problem) I walk religiously on average 5 miles a day (done 8 today)
HELP.
Thanks to all
Helen
p.s I'm 54 years old and need to loose around another 38lbs (17 lost so far)

Do you sync your fitbit to your myfitnesspal account? If you do, it will add your exercise calories to your daily calories. If you burn 1,000 calories through exercise than you can eat 1,000 calories more that day. So it's 1200 plus exercise calories. If you eat 1200 calories only then burn 1000 calories, your body is only netting 200 calories which is very unhealthy!

Please note that 1200 is an absolute MINIMUM number of calories a woman should net per day. Most of us should eat more. If you're eating less than you are doing your body a disservice. You are likely losing muscle and you may be losing 2lbs a week now but it won't last eating so little. Hope that helps!
