Bit confused :(

hey everyone, I have been reading a lot of the things people put up on this and am a bit confused... When I am trying to lose weight am I aiming to be 500 calories below maintenance or 509 calories below total calories including ur calories burnt during training

Apologies if it's a bit of a silly questing haha

    If you're using MFP, input your goals. Eat to the goal you're given. That number already has the deficit figured out for you.

    If you exercise, add your exercise in and eat those calories, too. Many people start by eating just a percentage of the exercise calories (such as 50-75%) because they are known to be exaggerated. However, they are just estimates and you may find you can eat 100% of the exercise calories and maintain your deficit.

    Your progress will depend on how accurate the estimates are for you and how accurately you track your food. Adjust your calories up or down if needed after 4-6 weeks.

    500 calories below maintenance is 500 calories below total calories. Maintenance = total calories burned for all purposes.

    If u entered that you want to lose weight on MFP then it gave you an appropriate amount of calories to lose weight assuming you don't exercise. If you exercise then you log you exercises as you do them and eat back some or all of those calories as well.

    Ahh thanks guys ! I put my info into MFP and it told me 2000 calories a day and I just thought that was a lot a day and because I do 2-3 hours of the kwon do a day it takes my calories high per day
