Alittle confuse about protein shake

Today, I was at the gym doing deadlift. I met this guy we were talking about the popular way of doing deadlift and other healthy benefits. He also recommended that I should try whey & casein protein powder, he did mention the benefit of it but I am just curious does anybody have whey & casein protein powder shake after strength training (workout)?

Does anybody have a protein shake after workout? If so, what kind and what's the benefit behind it.

While there are no doubt benefits to getting protein after your workout (as well as carbs), I would take anything you hear at the gym with 'a grain of salt'. Too many myths propagated as if they are facts.

Stay away from casein! Strong cancer link. Whey Isolate is great post workout choice. :)

So she heard (at the gym) that Whey and Casein proteins were beneficial to her muscle development in which you agreed were in fact beneficial then told her to not listen to people at the gym? lol

For 99% of us, it really doesn't matter.

If you're actively trying to build muscle (which is extremely hard to do if you're losing weight anyway), then yeah, it can be helpful.

I have a protein shake a few times a week. The reason I have one is I am low on protein for the day. If you are interested, below is 2 articles that describe what protein, carbs and fat do for your body:

If I'm not eating right after the gym, I'll have a quick shake. Otherwise, I'm usually consuming some kind of meat afterwards so my protein requirements are met.
