Trying This Again, Going Slow

Started seriously trying to lose weight over two years ago when I hit over 210 on the scales, lost about 25 pounds between August and Christmas, and then fell off over the holidays and stopped altogether. The next year, I went abroad and my diet changed, so I lost about 30 pounds over that year without really trying. Came back to the US, ate all the foods I had missed and never stopped. Now I've gotten up to 215 and I feel like crap so I'm going to try again, but I'm taking baby steps.
Don't know if I necessarily want to track every day, but I'll be trying to eat a little less and a little healthier and move a little more, and I'll be weighing in probably once a week to track progress. Basically, the 2lbs a week sounds wonderful, but in practice it's a huge jump and it's hard to keep going for me, personally, so I'm going to try to go slow and I'm sure I'll lose a lot some weeks and nothing others. But I'm more comfortable with my body than I used to be, so the goal is mostly just to be healthy this time around.

For the heck of it:

Height: 5'6"
SW: 215
CW: 215
GW: 185 (for now)

For me, tracking everything, all.the.time. was the key to losing weight. I had to really commit to being honest with myself before I was able to lose weight and keep it off. I managed to lose it, but it crept right back as soon as I stopped paying attention. For me, logging (personal accountability and honesty) was key.

Welcome to MFP. Good luck losing the weight. You CAN do this.

Whenever I track, I feel like I get too caught up in it or I neglect it entirely. It really works, but I have other things I need to put my focus on. Losing weight while I was abroad was just a matter of eating good food and not thinking too much about it, and if I hadn't been thrown back to old habits (moved back with my family, and I didn't have much say in groceries -_-), it would have been an easy lifestyle to maintain. So that's the route I'm going to try, and if I don't see progress I may try tracking again.
