Setting macros and protein

I'm trying to lose fat and maintain muscle. I'm eating at a 500 calorie deficit approx.m, following iifym but do I really need to be eating so much protein? It's making me feel awful inside. I weigh 142 pounds and am not overweight. Want to lose 10 vanity pounds ideally.

My protein intake goal is 125g daily, fat is 60g and carbs are 170 I think. I'm lifting heavy 3x a week so know high protein is pretty important. If I switch my macros to 25p/ 45c/30f, will this be ok for my goals? I do hiit and steady state cardio the days that I'm not training. An hour workout every day. The heema row will put my protein at 110g or thereabouts.

Any thoughts?

You are supposed to adjust the macros to fit your needs and goals, not to adhere to some insane and arbitrary (weightlifter) eating plan. The MFP default is good enough for most regular dieters, and 25p/45c/30f sounds healthy and attainable.

Really? I didn't know that! All I've been hearing is that we are meant to eat around 1 gram per pound of body weight which is an awful lot!

Not so much actually. MFP defaults are minimums. Heavy Lifters not not "regular dieters"

OP 0.8 grams per lb of bodyweight is a good rule of thumb.

So between 110 and 115 would probably be quite good. At least try to get 100g if you are lifting heavy 3x a week.
