Hey guys,
I used to be in great shape but the past 2 years I "let myself go". My weight is only a few pounds (5-10) higher than before, but my body looks totally different. Instead of a 6 pack, I now have a little beer belly with cellulite and flab! I feel like my whole body is constantly puffy and jiggly.
Anyway, I started running and working out in February and can barely tell a difference. I didn't change my diet - every time I try I end up binging that same night. I like to drink and have a feeling that is a factor with the weight loss and late night binging. It's just hard to break habits... anyone else have this problem?
Regardless, it is time to get serious!! I am hoping this will help keep me in check! I don't know if you can "add friends" here, but if so please feel free to add me... I need all the support I can get and love to return the favor!

By the way, I'm a 26 year old female. Could part of it be my metabolism slowing down? Already??! lol0

It's really hard to stay motivated. You're best off fighting it now though before it gets out of hand. Unfortunately eating a healthy diet as well as exercise are important factors with losing weight (which sucks because eating and drinking is so much fun haha :drinker: )0

If your body type drastically changed after a less than ten pound weight gain, that's not your metabolism. It might be a shift of body composition from muscle toward fat, or it might be that you have a skewed view of your own body (due to it not being the same as you remember it, or due to being down on yourself, or something like that).
Cardio isn't going to "fix" flab and jiggling, except by potentially adding to a caloric deficit that will shed pounds (and therefore some fat). If you want to adjust the way your body looks, you should consider some weight/resistance training.0 -
Great points... I'm trying to make a change that will stick and help me stay healthy long-term. Beer and pizza really aren't a part of that I guess. Well now is as good of a time as any to start.0

Yes, I didn't think of that. I build muscle relatively easy and was a bit muscular at some point. I'm sure that had something to do with it. But I do think my perception does too - I wasn't exactly where I wanted to be before. I will incorporate strength training more... I just shy away so easily due to the soreness. For example I did 3 sets of 10 leg lifts on the gym bench one Sunday and was sore until the next Sunday. I know bananas, cherry juice, and icing help but If you have any tips, please feel free to share! I will check out the forms too.
Thank you for the tips!0
