*Calories are based on shopping for specific brands at sainsbury's

Hello, i love toad in the whole, but figuring out the calories for a large pan of it would be difficult (Considering the placing of sausages) So i decided to do miniatures. It's basically Yorkshire Pudding's with sausage in. I've searched for the lowest calorie options, but only from inside of sainsbury's, since it's the closest shop to me.
It include's mash potatoes, baby carrots and peas.

First, the mini toad in the hole's.

Ingredients

4 reduced fat pork sausages (93 Kcal per sausage)
150g of Allinson Wholemeal plain Flour - 468 Kcal
200 Skimmed Milk - 70 Kcal
4 medium free range egg's - 304 (76 per egg)
12 tea-spoons of Vegetable Oil - 496

Utensils

12 bun tin
Mixing bowl
Large Spoon/Electronic Mixer
Measuring jug
Tea spoon
siv

Method

(Sorry for lack on instruction on sausages. Simply cut each of the 4 sausages into 3 and cook until ready.)

Pre-heat oven to 220'c
Pour 1 tea spoon of oil into each on the 12 dips in the tin
Put the tin in the oven so that the oil can heat during preparation
Siv 150g of flour into a bowl (Siv from a height to allow air)
In a separate bowl, mix 4 eggs together, blending egg white and yolk into one
Add 25ml of milk into egg bowl and mix a little more
Make a dent in the flour and pour the egg/milk mixture in.
The the flour, eggs and milk together, slowly adding the 175ml of milk as you do.
Make sure there are not lump.
Take the tin out of the oven, i don't need to stress how careful you must be. The oil should be scolding hot. Don't dip your finger to make sure though. I don't recommend that at all.
Put a piece of cooked sausage into each dip (Sausage should have been cut into 3rd's) Cover the sausage with batter.
Equally pour the mixture into the 12 dips.
Put the tin back into the oven and wait 20 minute's.

That should be 93 calories per Mini Toad in the hole. (I've looked for the lowest calorie versions of each ingredient. Feel free to use white flour, but be prepared to add on around 70 calories per 100g)

Now the mash potatoes

Ingredients

Charlotte Potatoes (Sainsburys, Again) 500g - 335
Butterlicious Light (Also sainsburys... Shocker) 30g - 94

Method

Peel the potatoes
Measure out 500g of peeled potato
Cut each potato into considerably smaller pieces (They cook quicker) I usually cut the potato into four pieces. Try make them equally sized.
Put into boiling water (Careful!)
Boil until soft.
Drain the potatoes
Mash the potatoes until smooth
Add the butter (Melt first) onto mashed potatoes and mash again until it's all mixed in together.

Divided between 6 people, that should be 71 calories per person

Now, the pea's and baby carrot's are simpler.

Just boil them

Pea's - Petit Pois, sainsbury's British 80g - 54 cal
Baby Carrot's - Sainsbury's (Bagged, not tinned) - 18 per 80g.

Hope that's a good recipe. I'm trying to turn all my favourite food's into a much lower calorie alternative. If you want, i can try search for a lower calorie recipe for your favourite foods. I'm a student with no summer job, so you'd be giving me something to do.

I'll be adding a chocolate cake recipe with the lowest calorie options possible. It'll be for sainsbury's too though to be fair, i'm not sure how much different the branding is, i just didn't want to search for brands and find out that they didn't sell them at my localist supermarket and would have to re-calculate the whole calorie percentage. :D

Have a nice day and i hope that this is useful. :D

I'm American, but make Toads in the Hole for my family as comfort food once or twice a year. I love that meal. I like how you improved it with healthier sausage and skim milk.

The wholemeal flour takes away a lot of calories too.
