Where are the New Yorkers at? I'm coming to join you!

Hi all,

I'm a born-and-raised Floridian who will be moving up to NYC next month for law school! I'm incredibly excited. I've been visiting the city since I was 16 and I absolutely love it (I come from a very theatrical background, so living near Broadway is a dream of mine). I would love to add some MFP friends who live nearby, as I'm sure I will have many struggles and questions adjusting to the big apple

Do you guys find that it's difficult to live a healthy lifestyle in the city? I know the (unhealthy) food there is pretty much beyond compare, so I'm a bit nervous about that! In addition, the price of groceries is ridiculous - but of course, so is everything in the city. I'm just going to have to get used to being poor, haha. On the bright side, I'll be walking to school - 1.5 miles each way - most of the time, and I'm also joining a gym (Crunch and NYSC give student discounts for my school). Do you all have any particular recommendations, though?

Anyway, feel free to comment here or add me! It's finally starting to hit me that my big move is less than a month away, and I'm feeling super enthusiastic right now :drinker:

I *think* I'm going to be living in the Murray Hill area (finalizing housing situation now), and my school is in Greenwich Village. So I'll be downtown most of the time.

Any particular reasons you like NYSC as opposed to other gyms?

Good luck! New York is beautiful. Lots of places to walk and explore, lots of people watching, fun things to see. Go check out this place called Rice to Riches. .. It's a little store that sells rice pudding with extras like dried cherries. I didn't think I'd like it but it's really good.
