Did you lose weight with help from like a personal trainer or dietitian or did you do it on your own?

I've lost around 50 pounds and now in maintenance, did it on my own doing CICO/IF.

CICO, portion control, and learning how to substitute high calorie foods for low calorie ones. I did exercise somewhat, but I didn't seriously get into fitness until I was already nearly at a normal BMI.

On my own sort of. I used MFP and all the helpful threads here.

I am doing it with the helps of my brain. :)

Seriously, I've done a lot of thinking, rationalizing, the homework. It's been relatively easy so far.

I entered my information into MFP, I selected Sedentary as my activity level, I selected to lose 1 kg/week, and MFP gave me 1250 calories (+ exercise calories) to work with.

For 16 weeks I stuck to that like glue. I weighed and measured and logged everything ... calories consumed and calories burned (rounding down on the calories burned). I ate 1250 calories plus about half my exercise calories.

    In 16 weeks, I lost 15 kg. :)

I've gone on and lost more since then, but at a slower pace.

Not sure why you'd need a personal trainer to lose weight?

But yes, did it completely on my own. MFP and the whole business of calorie counting (managing CICO as a method of weight loss) is really the quintessence of being "simple but not easy."

My trainer gave me some guidance on weight loss and directed me to MFP, but after getting started, it's pretty much been on my own. My trainer's focus is fitness training. He does do weigh ins, measurements, and progress pics, all of which help keep me motivated and focused.
137 lbs lost, 22 months. 15 to goal.

I just told myself that i had no, and there were no excuses to carry around all that excess weight.

I was feeling bad/sick of all the weight so it was stupid to not lose weight.

So i did, i just started calories, weigh every single bite i ate or drunk. And as soon as i could i started walking/jogging and swimming....first 5 minutes a day...now 60 minutes at least every day.
