I am looking to gain muscles. I obviously know to lift weights but I want to know what exercises to do everything I can find easily is for lean muscle and I prefer to just be muscular any advice?

In your mind what is the difference between having "lean muscle" and being "muscular"?

Haha I didn't notice that. Yea, muscle IS lean muscle. Unless you're talking about a yummy marbled steak with nice intramuscular fat.

I started with Stronglifts 5x5. You can google it. It is a good full-body lifting program for building strength. I'm not really sure what you mean by your second sentence/question...

Fair enough, poor choice of words in my mind "lean muscle" is too feminine I would rather be bulky, than looking lean. Hopefully that makes sense. :)

Well you're not going to look bulky if you're lean...if that makes sense to you.

Most workout programs that can find are geared for woman to be lean rather than bulky, that's what I mean. I just worded it poorly.

Makes sense. The more muscle you build, the bulkier you will look. Lift progressively heavier (2 programs have been suggested already, Ice Cream Fitness and Stronglifts 5x5), eat at a caloric surplus and consume sufficient protein (people often recommend around 2g of protein per lb of body mass).

I don't know much about bodybuilding for women but I recall that it's hard, and takes a long time, for women to build muscle mass. The other point worth noting is that if you eat at a caloric surplus you will put on both muscle (provided you lift heavy & consume enough protein) and fat, which you should be aware of before you start.

Hope you enjoy lifting heavy things! :)

Thank you, I did ICF tonight while my minions were watching veggie tales and I can slightly feel it, I may have to increase the weight. But we'll see what tomorrow brings before I get to gung-ho. I did strength training/muscle building in HS and it takes a long time but is completely worth it. But this time I have over a decade and two kids on me, and am nearing 30 so I'm guessing it will be even more difficult than it was. Hard work never comes easy, however, it always has the greatest benefits. I think I will stick with ICF for the next 4 weeks and see how that goes.

You have to be really working at it to get bulky. No woman naturally is going to look ripped by accident, that takes steroids.

I don't want to look like hulk hogan or Arnold Schwarzenegger. Just want it to be noticeable that I am strong rather than attempting to be "lean and sexy"
