Sugars: do they matter?

I know that your sugar intake is very important, but is it bad if you go over on your sugars if 90% of your intake is from fruit?
I'm trying to replace mindless snacking with healthy snacking and I've noticed that after 2 servings of fruit (breakfast and snack), plus other foods during the day cap me out on my sugars.
