So, like the title says, I'm just now starting out with strength training. I am thinking about getting a gym membership to start out with, but I also like the comfort of my own home along with the convenience. I am more than willing to get a small weight set to start out with at home, but I have NO idea what I'm doing. Does anyone have any ideas for just starting out. I'd rather not hurt myself trying to be more active. I'm looking for a site or plan that is easy to follow that gets all the major muscle groups. I appreciate any help!!

I workout at home with various dumbells. I started off using youtube workouts such as fitness blender and Jessica Smith, they teach proper form etc.

Now I do a programme of my own 3 times a week x 20 mins.

I'm really happy with the strength I've built up in the 9 months since I really committed to consistent strength workouts  I have lovely muscle tone all over

Body weight can work well too. There are lots of workouts that focus on strength without equipment too.

Check with your friends and see who would be willing to work out with you that has experience strength training. When your new, having someone that knows at least the basic info can help you a lot with form and stuff like that when your starting out. If you don't find anyone then I would check out videos along with any text info you get so that you can get a good idea the movements that the program you find is suggesting.
