true or false eating too low of calories will prevent weight loss?

Hello everyone I need advice . I hear people say that if u don't eat enough calories you wont lose weight. I also here success stories about people who workout more calories than they eat in a day and lose tons of weight ??? Any ideas??? Advice?? Example weighing 311 pounds eating 1400 cals and exercising 1 to 2 hours a day jogging/walking and lifting weights.

False. The lower your calories, the more weight you will lose. Starvation mode is a myth.

1400 calories is probably way too low for someone who weighs over 300 and is that active (though it would depend on your age and height). You may lose weight too quickly and as a result, lose muscle mass along with fat which is not good for your overall health.

And that lost muscle mass doesn't just come from limbs and such. Your heart is a muscle. Remember: slow and steady wins the race!

False. Those who say it does for them: either they weren't tracking calories accurately enough, or were so hungry all the time that they were sneaking little snackies here and there without tracking them which put them at or above maintenance

False. But it has other really nasty side effects which are better off avoided (muscle loss, malnutrition, and such). There is also the possibility of ending up in binge cycles if your too restrictive or your deficit is to large. A binge could easily put a person at maintenance or into a surplus.

@veliia - Your body won't stop losing weight because of eating too little. That is a false statement. You can however eat to little and end up malnourished. Your body can only use so much of your fat for energy in a day and after that point it will start to pull from your lean body mass for the energy it needs (muscles, organs, ect). The scale will still be moving, but what's going on inside your body won't be pretty.
