Mindset and SLOW weightloss..

I am losing about a pound a week with my calories set at 1350. If I can keep going at this pace, I'll hit my goal weight in October. From now to October seems like a really looong time to keep track of every calorie, and to be honest it seems discouraging. How to you keep a positive frame of mind? It doesn't help matters that I've been dieting off and on for a year now but have only just now lost almost 10 lbs with MFP. I have 26 lbs more to go. Any advice appreciated.

To me I just think about how much more painful it would be to stay fat/overweight. Plugging in a few numbers here or there is definitely not as bad.

Some people set up rewards for themselves, after every so and so pounds lost.

Really, you just gotta get it done. October will be here before you know it, and you're going to enjoy how you look every few pounds lost as your body changes. Think, in the 2 months you'll be 8 pounds down and that's a huge difference.

I just don't see things that way. Honestly, how long have you been fat? If it's anything longer than last October well, there you go...

And you're not 'keeping track of every calorie' between here and October right now are you? You're just keeping track of today's calories. One day at a time. Or, do nothing and stay the same. Maybe even get fatter. Your choice!

The time is going to pass either way.

You can choose to actively pursue your goals or you can choose to actively ignore them.

    Which do you prefer? :)

I struggle with that as well. When I think how long it will take to reach my goal I feel so discouraged. But then I think how much I lost already (20 pounds since February) and how easy and pain free it was. Time will pass either way, focus on one day at the time and maybe get some treats when you reach next milestones?

Thank you. Lots of good points made. I'm a planner so it's hard to focus day at a time lol. I like the rewards idea. I actually had that in mind, just haven't done it yet.

The logging and weighing became habit after a month. I only get annoyed/find it bothersome when I have to enter a new food/meal. Britney always helped me through my 4 years of weight loss (and pretty much Life, lel).

Ha! Good one. Shave your head if you must but keep logging...

Tracking calories is just a part of my day now. Time goes by quick. Just don't think about it, don't think how long it's going to take, just do one day at a time and realize just how fast October will actually get here. Before you know it, the holidays will be here yet again. Ugh. I wish time didn't go by so fast.

It's just life now. At first it's a bit more time consuming but once you're into the swing of it it's no different to any other daily habit, making your morning coffee, showering, brushing your teeth, log your breakfast etc etc. I'm about to hit my year streak and I don't regret one minute I spent logging my food when I look in the mirror and compare to this time last year. It's worth it.
