Today is my 100th Day on MFP and my 100th Day of caring about what I put into my body.
I've been down this road before, but I feel like this time things are different. Firstly, my doctor told me that if I continued to eat the same levels of of fat, carbs, and salt I would end up having a heart attack by the time I was 45. He never once said, "You're too fat." He never even mentioned my weight. I didn't feel "fat" at all. I felt good. I was in a good spot in my head about who I was and how I looked and I was loving life. He simply had a serious discussion with me about how my eating habits were unhealthy and I needed to do something about it.
Instead of being obsessed by how much I weigh I became focused with how many grams of carbs, protein, fat, salt, and sugar I was eating and figuring out what foods make me feel energized and healthy.
I don't even own a scale! I have to ask my neighbor if I can use her scale and that keeps me from weighing too often and sabotaging myself when that wave of disappointment from not losing "enough" hits me. So far I've weighed myself 3 times. In 100 days I've gone from 75kg to 68kg.
After 100 days I now know a few new things about me.
1) I like lamb's lettuce with pickled beets and avocado
2) I need protein at breakfast to help me get started
3) I have a tendency to want to eat a lot more fat and sugar than I need
4) My body tells me when I have too much fat and/or sugar and it is UNpleasant
5) I don't exercise regularly, but I tend to want to move more in my everyday life
6) My insides feel "off" if I have something other than salad at lunch three days in a row
7) I notice when I don't have at least 6 glasses of water
8) I don't eat as much bread and I don't miss it
I feel transformed. In the next 100 days I will hit my goal and shift into maintenance (at some point) and that will be a learning experience, too. But I feel solid - emotionally and physically. I've created some good habits.
