Cereals

What are your opinions on cereals? I ask because the more I log them and watch my nutrients, they seem kind of pointless, as in "empty calories." Obviously, depends on the cereal, but lately I've noticed that the cereals I have been eating: Cheerios, etc. have a fair amount of calories and carbs, but not much fat or protein or fiber. Almost seems like a waste to eat, even though I love my cereals. I guess everyone could say the same to ice cream, and cookies, but then why are cereals made out to be "part of a complete breakfast"? Just looking for your opinions on them. Do you eat them, do you avoid them because they are processed?

I don't like them. Not only do I eat about 3 times the recommended amount, but I'm hungry an hour later. It's like Chinese food. You eat tons and never feel full. I'd rather have a bagel, oatmeal, or eggs for breakfast. If I'm going to eat yummy things that aren't that great for me and won't fill me up, I'd rather have ice cream or cookies. Although my husband is a cereal nut. But he spends A LOT of money to get the least processed, most nutrient dense, and lowest calorie cereal. To me, it's not worth it. I'm not saying I'll never spend an day eating through and entire box of Cocoa Krispies, but not on a regular basis.0

I tend to avoid cereal now that I know how many calories are in them, but when I do eat them I like Cascadian Farms, especially the Cinnamon Crunch. It's like 100 calories for one cup and it satisfies my desire for cereal.0
