Hi my name is...

Hails (well it's not my given name but that's what people call me). So the plan was to start in earnest last week but that went awry so today is the new start.

I am about 4/5 stone overweight and at 5"3 that's not a good look. I'm not looking to lose 'weight' but I do want to lose fat and gain muscle so I guess my goals are more about that than what the scales say. I have been strength training for the past month or so and really enjoy it; putting the emphasis on strength training and doing fun activities for Cardio. I really can't recommend it enough to all females out there. I'm lucky enough to have a personal trainer though The New Rules of Lifting is a really good book if you're going it alone.

I'm not going to diet but I am changing the way I eat (because the old way obviously wasn't working) and so I am giving the paelo "diet" a go. Look at http://www.nerdfitness.com and http://www.marksdailyapple.com/#axzz2YANaP2uY if you are interested.

I have 3 boys...all in or near their teens, I'm single, I live in the UK (North Wales to be more exact), I'm a mature student and love rock/metal music.
