Mediterranean Diet

My GP gave me some info about this diet and I'm becoming very interested. I read the info on the Mayo Clinic site and am slowly changing my lifestyle to this way of eating. Heart disease, etc...runs in my family so I'd like to know how valid the research is. Are there others who have followed this lifestyle as well? Are there other good resources/books about it you could recommend? I'm also hoping maybe to add MFP friends willing to share their diaries so I can get some ideas. Thank you.

I generally eat according to similar principles, but you wouldn't know it from my diary for the last few weeks.
I know all the research points to improved blood fat and sugar levels, but really I just find it more sustainable for me.0 -

It is supposed to be one of the most recommended diets out there for health.. although some people think it could be linked to the olive oil deep down. I did see a study that got people to have a large spoon of olive oil daily on top of their regular diet, and improved every single persons heart health on the trial. You might like to search for it?The whole Med diet sounds like a very nice way of eating though, and if you enjoy and it helps your health it's a win win.0
