Bit about me im 5 6 276lb im 39 female . I suffer from depression and up til last week or so thought i might have fybromayalga (sp) diagnosedwith extreamly low vit d phosphate levels which looks like the reason im tired all time have general aches etc etc and have asthma which is exasperatedby exercise
As well as my own health issues im caring for my OH who is disabled . Studying part time (with open uni so at home) and work part time again mostly sedintery .

Im going to be 40 in Aug and want to have that as my first milestone . But watched too many of these bigger loser type shows that im confused as to a good safe maintainable amount to loose i want it to be a challange but not impossible .
Baring in mind my lifestyle health makes vigarous exercise out (been walking about an hour most days then fell and tore ligament in knee and did some pretty good soft tissue damage last week)
And we are on a pretty tight budget
AND other half is recovering from eating disorder that had him down at BMI less than 16 when he moved in with me 4 years ago and is still a fussy/disordered eater .

A lb a week is more than reasonable.

1.5 lbs per week would be a good goal. I like to see women stick with 1 pound if they have 75 lbs or less to lose so I'd say you could stick with 1.5 for a several months before dropping to 1 lb. This assumes you are eating back some or all of your exercise calorie, should you have any.

See i know this me brain washed by the weightloss shows on tv but that seems tiny ... then i get frustrated and reach for the chocolate bar...

Need to change my mindset im not going to be a size 12 by my birthday .. if i want to keep it that way . And be positive with any loss as a good thing

Doesnt help that other half till doesnt fully accept him.looseing over 200 lb in 6 months was start of eating disorder and not a good "diet "to follow

Mind you i enjoy cooking and eating too much to live on one prepacked low cal meal.a day

When I had those troubles with my weight l went as simple as I thought I could go. I went to the program of No Sugar No Grain, listened to Vinnie Tortorich and Anna Vocino and just relaxed. With doing this and having a lifestyle as this, I have lost 90 pounds and went from a 44 inch waist to 34 inches and do not have do any medicine my doctor told me I would need.

I've typed this out for a couple of other threads so rather than typing it all again, I'm doing a copy and paste:

    Hi OP.

Do me a favor. Stop what you are doing and think about times in the past when you thought about or planned to lose weight. Then think about how a few months later you would remember that initial plan and regret that you hadn't gone through with it because, if you had, you could have been X lbs lighter and healthier.

Did you ever do that? I know I did. I would sit in church and write on the bulletin, listing each week and what weight I'd be if I lost a pound every week for the next so many months. Then months later I would find the bulletin shoved in a drawer, see the weight I was "supposed" to be now and regret not having followed through. Then I finally reached a point where I decided to follow through. And I did. And yes, it was a long road. I took a year--52 weeks--to lose 52 pounds. During that year, every time I started to think "will I ever get there?" I would remember those church bulletin weight lists and regrets and think I'm doing it for real this time. No more looking back and thinking "if only I'd taken action."I'm really doing it.

I really encourage you to focus on how far you've come rather than how far you have to go. One pound a week adds up quickly in the grand scheme of things. You're doing great and you can continue to do great, I'm sure of it. Best of luck to you :)
