Losing Inches, gaining weight

Is that possible!!?? I've been working out with some strength training, but the scale says differently. I don't want to get discouraged.

You are gaining muscle (weight increasing) and reducing fat (losing inches)- this is IDEAL. Keep it up. It won't last forever, and eventually you will have to focus on gaining muscle (bulking) OR losing fat (cutting weight).3

Thanks for the encouraging words.0

Some of us would kill for that. I always want to lose inches around the waist without losing weight. I agree with Hamsterman... this is ideal!2

Losing inches is good....
as for why your gaining, is this just recent gain? new workouts contribute to scale fluctuations as your body holds on to water for repair.2 -
Hi !
I am in the same boat.
I really do not mean to overtake your thread but I see you have replies form users who seem to know what they are talking about.
May I ask you this ?
Also I think I may know the answer to this but feels like I need confirmation for you who know what you are talking about as I am a beginner in strength training.

GW 140? 150 ? Don't know.
Started CHALEAN EXTREME on March28th i have only lost 1.5 pounds since.
When I was on cardio only (2.5 months) I lost around 28 pounds.
Same calorie deficit.
Now, that being said, I was warned that the scale is not a good indicator of weight loss when strength training.
Muscle versus fat debate...
I did take mesurements on March 28th to be able to mesure progress during CLX and I will mesure again in 1 week to see the progress after one month phase. (My work suits are looser for sure)
BUT
1.5 pounds ?
Really ?
Any thoughts ?
I keep telling myself "Trust the process" "Keep doing what you're doing" and get your focus off the d**** scale !

^^^^Super doubtful it's this.0 -
I feel you. I'm new into lifting and love it. Since I've increased my protein and decreased my fat consumption, fat has melted off of me! Now, it's happening a lot slower after doing it for three months. My sticky spot is my saddlebags. I holD fat in my lower body, so my upper body was the first to visually change.
What are you consuming? I have to constantly remind myself that my goal comes from only 20% working out, but 80% in fuel. Food. Is. Everything.1
