The moral of the story is: don't be hero. The weights and gains will always be there. I got greedy and pulled 100 lbs 5×5 on a trap bar deadlift and pulled my hamstring. It's healing and I expect to return to my lower body workouts this week but. ..don't be me, guys, haha.

I feel your pain! I just pulled a back muscle yesterday while doing deadlifts...kept lifting without pain and did some great interval sprints....was fine last night. This morning, I swung my gym bag over my shoulder to leave the house and BOOM was waddling to the car and couldn't breath heavy (due to hurt back muscle) all the way to the car. UGH! Icy-hot and Bayer until better0

A significant deload after much more than a week off (certainly after two weeks) is always a good idea. Sorry you had to be a poster child for that!0
