Eating at restaurants

Hi guys,

I have been logging for 42 days now (lost a 14lb so far) and have only been out to eat once during that time. I am going on a date with my OH tomorrow and he is after a big burger... I sort of want one too. I am thinking I will eat a low cal breakfast and lunch and then just get a burger and fries and a cocktail whilst I'm out. I have been under my calorie goal everyday for the last few weeks but I already feel guilty about having a meal off! I am worried that it will make me fall off the wagon :/...

How does everyone deal with this?

If you know where you're going, you can see if they've posted their nutrition information online so you can plan out what you're getting. Many will also follow a weekly calorie goal or exercise a little more to save up calories for a night out/special event.

Cut the burger in half and eat it for lunch the next day. I might switch out the fries for a plain baked potato w/kosher salt, but I like plain baked potatoes w/kosher salt. Cocktail might just be a gin and diet tonic or rum and Coke Zero.

Enjoy it. I would normally eat the burger, great protein, order a side salad, steal some of my husbands fries and stick with one drink and then water. Don't feel guilty about it because we all have to learn balance

Life is full of different opportunities, and you don't want to miss out on a nice outing with the other half.
I'd log ahead to get an idea of how a burger/fries/cocktail would fit into my cals for the day, then make a decision about whether I want to change/drop something (no fries, or just eat half the fries, or lose the cheese from the burger for example) or whether I can eat less during the day to make room for this meal... or whether I'm just going to eat more than my calorie goal for one day.
Either way, enjoy it, eating over your goal for one day isn't going to have a big impact in the long term, and that's what is most important.

enjoy your day out, eat the burger (perhaps you can cut the mayo or whatever sauce they put in it, except the ketchup which isn’t that bad). Drink a lot of water during the day and after the night out, and keep drinking a lot of water the day after, to flush all the sodium out. For me it does the trick because it will make me feel lean and that is enough motivation to keep going ;)
