Can't find pants....

Does anyone have any recommendations on pants that fit a woman with I high hip to waist ratio?
My waist is 27 and my hips are 41.
I'm really tired of wearing spandex/leggings pants and really tired of having jeans with huge waists. I really don't want to pay money to tailor.
I just want to buy a pair of pants that fit grrrrr.

How did you find the quality and fit?

Assuming you've tried the "curvy" lines that many brands carry (Eddie Bauer, Levi's, Lee, NY&Co, Gap, Buckle, etc). I'm slightly larger than you but have a 12" difference between waist and hips/bubble butt and I basically live in Eddie Bauer's curvy jeans (still need a belt but the gap isn't as bad as other brands) and bermuda shorts by Lee and Eddie. I did like Banana Republic's curvy line years ago but even their longs weren't long enough for my 34" inseam so I quit trying their stuff on. When I still worked in an office, I lived in A-line skirts and dresses because I rarely found dress pants that fit right without requiring alterations.

If you've exhausted your choices of "curvy lines" and still haven't found ones that fit perfectly off the rack, then unfortunately you have no choice but to either pay a tailor to alter or learn to sew and make your own alterations.

I picked up a couple pairs of Not My Daughter's Jeans when they were on a super sale and really liked them. Can't wait until I fit back into them again!! (currently a size 8 and they were size 6).

I feel your pain - I ended up buying a little stretchy clip that clips on to my belt loops to tighten up the waist. My local dollar store sold it at one point in time. Really need to buy another one soon. I love it since I don't like wearing belts on my pants (unless I'm wearing the cute fashion ones).

I have no input, other than to say that this is the best topic starter I've seen here in months...lol

Thanks for your suggestion! I've tried the Levis and had no luck. I haven't tried the Eddie Baur though I will try them. I will try the other stores as well! I usually just walk from store to store in frustration so at least I have a list now

I have not purchased anything from them, so I couldn't say. They have been recommended to me from other weight lifters.

I'm 25"/37" and I love the Editor pant from Express. I wish they still made it in denim, but they're excellent.

For inexpensive jeans, I go with the Levi denizen curvy. They're like $20 and fit ridiculously well. For more expensive jeans, I find I end up just going into a jean boutique and trying on a million pairs until I find one and just pray that they're under $200. LOL

I used to take my jeans/pants/shorts to the dry cleaners for alterations. They are cheaper than a custom tailor. And I'm horrible with a sewing machine, so that alternative is definitely out.

32" waist, 41" hips here. Best fit for my price range I've found are George brand jeans from Walmart.

Old Navy curvy fit is pretty good and not too expensive

I know you said that you don't want to do alterations but I have found that it's well worth the money for me to pay for alterations. I'd rather have 2-3 pairs of pants that fit perfectly than several pairs that don't. I also use the seamstress at my dry cleaner. It's around $15 to take in the waist band. I'd keep it in mind if you don't find a good fit in off the rack pants.

My favorite jeans right now are at Maurice's women's clothing store. There is a 7 inch difference between my hips and waist.

Can't remember which style but absolutely love them. When I go down two sizes I always go back to fill my supply. :)

I have the same issue and wear the Loft Curvy fit jeans. It comes in a few different styles - straight, slim, bootcut etc. The jeans also have different fabrications with some made with more cotton and others more stretch so try a few different styles on. Their Julie fit pants are also for curvy figures and fits me without alteration.

Loft regularly have 40-50% off sales so it's worth buying then.

You may have to order online to get the right lengths but at least finding a style in a store in the right size can help. If you have a Buckle near you (and don't mind the butt bling too much), I suggest trying them out too. The sales clerks I've dealt with in the past have gone over and above helping me find the right style/size combinations and they do alterations (or they used to anyway).

Second the other suggestions about going to a dry cleaner that does alterations. I'm lucky that my mom taught me to sew and while I can put basic darts in dress pants, my old machine just doesn't go thru multiple layers of denim very well. It's been a few years but I want to say I paid under $20 to take in the waist on a pair of really nice jeans at a dry cleaners. I normally don't mess with altering my everyday jeans because I can get by with a belt on the styles that I buy.
