Head Colds and Fitness...

Okay, so I have a head cold. My sinuses are acting up, and my allergies are a mess.

I don't want to not work out, though. Any tips to be able to work out without over-exhausting one's self during a cold? I don't wanna have trouble breathing because that would be counter productive...

Thanks for the help!

I should add that this is my 100th day eating healthy and working out, and that this is my very first cold since early 2015. (Haven't been sick in over a year. Yay!)

In my experience, headcolds are beaten by mass hydration, mucinex (to thin out the slime jammed into your face), and LOTS of sleep. Seriously, shoot for 9 hours at least. It's just something your body has to process.

As for workouts, light cardio should be okay. Weights too, but if you're feeling light-headed, do not do anything at all.

I agree with both sleep being great and light cardio being ok. I would say, if possible, please workout at home or go for a walk outside though instead of spreading those germs around the gym.

A few years ago I was going to the gym several times a week and realized that in spite of washing my hands regularly including just before leaving, I got sick way more often during that period than I did when I stopped going. I assume this was partially due to people going when sick like with a cold. Now I am much more obsessive about wiping down equipment before and after using, and try to do most of my cardio outside (walking, hiking, biking). I have not seen a spike in how often I get sick since doing this.

The apartment complex I live in has a small gym that no one ever uses, so I go in there and get my cardio in every day. Ever since I started using it in January, no one else has used it. Most of the other tenants here are older, so that's probably why. I refuse to go around people all together when i'm sick because i dont wanna be that guy.
