Binge Eating and Colon/Toxic Cleansing

Hello,

I haven't visited MyFitness pal in some time but I used to use it as a resource when I first started losing weight. One of my complications when going through this journey was binge eating when I became stressed/negative etc. It sets my hard work back and makes me feel terrible to the point where I don't enjoy exercising for a while because I'm doing it as a 'chore' at that point to try and get back to where I was.

I recently had a 4 day binge over the weekend (early Sat morning - Monday) because I was upset and emotional and two days later I'm bloated, uncomfortable, the scale is showing a 7lb increase, and feel squishy in my clothing.

I'm seeking help for binge eating which I assume has to do with psychological issues based on my choices and the fact that it's like a switch I can't turn off once I get going, but I'm questioning the additional bloating while I work on getting back to my routine/proper eating habits.

Would anyone recommend a product for a toxic cleanse? Or whether or not this will help shed any water weight (aside from drinking water which is what I'm doing as well)? I'm pretty desperate to fight back hard as I've a very important event at the end of the month and I'm humiliated/disgusted by the whole ordeal I just put myself through.

Thank you.

There isn't anything that will "cleanse" your body. Speak to your therapist about the whys for your binges, but log your food as before.

No offense, but wouldn't that be along the lines of a... purge? Please see someone about your binging. There's no healthy way to UNDO binging. This sounds so unhealthy. Best of luck.

Cleanses are bunk. I had a nearly month long binge in February and a three day binges in March. Coming out of is definitely unpleasant, but only time can get rid of the water weight.

I definitely recommend seeking help from someone. There's a support group here on MFP if you'd like to join.

detox or cleanses are snake oil.
What are you expecting a cleanse to really do?
You over ate and are likely retaining some water from your binge and may have gained some real weight also. A detox or cleanse wont change that.
Do you really believe these products remove toxins? (I saw mentioned the word toxic )
If so , can you tell me exactly what toxins they remove ?( I'll make this easy, none, no toxins )
The only thing you can do now is figure out what causes you to binge and work on those issues.
Using a product thats basically just a laxative isnt going to really help at all. In fact, it could be harmful.
Deal with your issues and know that theres no easy out. You over ate and now must deal with it and try to learn from this. Buying products with cleverly marketed names wont do you any good.

You didn't eat toxins. No need to detoxify.

Seek advice from a registered dietitian, NOT a nutritionist. Any snake oil salesman can call themselves a nutritionist but an RD is licensed and certified by national and state boards. Best of luck.

Some medications can help with binge eating. See a psychiatrist for those.
