Shin splint

I overdid it a couple of days last week and now have pain in my lower shin and ankle. Any advice on the best way to heal quickly and safely? Eating has been going great, maintaining a deficit every day but I really want to get back out and get my daily step count back up.

Rest is the only recovery for shin splints. After they heal up, shin splint sleeves might help prevent recurrence.

Are you walking only, or running too? If both, cut out the running until it heals. Walking? Just go slower, and not as far.

I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice.

Rest is definitely the best recovery, but you can make it an active recovery by walking. I did the following to strengthen and stretch my calves.

My legs are healed now and have incorporated skipping into my training. I skip probably 20 minutes 2-3 days a week.

    Good Luck to you!!

If it is shin splints and not something else...get new shoes with better padding and don't start out all gung ho...work your way up to it.

I'm just walking right now. But I've been doing way more steps per day than previously and I've obviously been too gung ho. Will rest up and be more sensible.

try getting some new shoes to walk in. Most stores that specialize in cardio/workout gear will have people there to look at your gait ect.
